Surfactants

Surfactants, or surface-active agents, are the essential cleansing and foaming components of any wash-off formulation. These molecules allow oils, dirt, and impurities to be lifted from the skin or hair and rinsed away by reducing the surface tension of water. Modern surfactant chemistry focuses on “synergy”—combining primary cleansers with secondary, amphoteric agents to create rich, stable foam while significantly reducing irritation potential. From liquid washes to concentrated anhydrous powders, surfactants define the “lather” and “rinse” experience of every personal care product.
