Product Description

Passion fruit seed oil, commonly known in the beauty industry as Maracuja Oil, is cold-pressed from the seeds of Passiflora edulis. It is an exceptionally rich source of Linoleic Acid (Omega-6), often containing up to 70% or more. This composition makes it a superior choice for restoring the skin’s barrier and balancing sebum in acne-prone individuals. It is naturally high in Piceatannol, a potent stilbene that has been shown to assist in skin lightening, collagen synthesis, and DNA repair after UV exposure. This oil is a favorite for “night-repair” formulations due to its high Vitamin C and Vitamin A content, which work together to brighten dull complexions and firm the skin. Its light, silky skin feel makes it an ideal luxury carrier for high-end facial elixirs, providing intense nutrition while leaving a velvet-smooth finish.

Formulation Guidelines

Due to its high polyunsaturated fatty acid content, Passion fruit oil is sensitive to thermal degradation. It is highly recommended to add it during the cool-down phase (below 40°C). It functions beautifully as a “base” for facial oils intended for oily or combination skin because it does not feel occlusive. Because it is prone to oxidation, it is essential to include an antioxidant like Vitamin E (Tocopherol) at 0.2%–0.5% to maintain its efficacy and prevent the oil from developing a sharp, rancid odor.

Safety Guidelines

• Topical Use Only: Intended for external cosmetic application.
• Non-Comedogenic: Rated at a 1–2; it is generally very safe for those prone to breakouts and helps dissolve hardened sebum.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dark place. This oil has a shorter shelf life than stable oils like Jojoba; use within 6–12 months of opening.
• Sensitivity: Generally non-irritating, but as with all fruit-derived oils, a patch test is advised for highly sensitive individuals.
