Product Appearance:

• Color: Clear to very pale yellow liquid.
• Odor: Strong, fresh, and penetrating menthol aroma.
• Texture: Thin, watery viscosity; provides a cooling sensation on the skin.

Product Solubility: Fully soluble in cosmetic oils and high-proof alcohol; insoluble in water.

Possible Usage Rate:

• Lip Balms: 0.1% – 1%
• Foot Creams & Muscle Rubs: 1% – 3%
• Shampoos & Scalp Treatments: 0.5% – 2%
• Direct Application: Prohibited. Must be diluted in a carrier oil.

pH Range: Not applicable as it is an anhydrous essential oil.

Product Description

Peppermint oil is steam-distilled from the leaves of the Mentha piperita herb. Its primary bioactive component is Menthol, which triggers cold-sensitive receptors in the skin, providing an instant cooling and local anesthetic effect. This makes it an invaluable ingredient for soothing itchy scalps, relieving muscular tension, and refreshing tired feet. Formulation Guidelines

• Peppermint oil is highly volatile and heat-sensitive.
• It must be added during the cool-down phase (below 40°C) to prevent the evaporation of menthol and menthone.
• Because it is a concentrated essential oil, it should be pre-blended into a carrier oil before being introduced into an emulsion or balm.
• To ensure the stability of the aromatic profile and prevent oxidation, include an antioxidant like Vitamin E (Tocopherol) at 0.1%–0.2% in the final formulation.

Safety Guidelines

• For external use; do not ingest as concentrated peppermint oil can be toxic.
• Keep strictly away from the eyes and mucous membranes; the vapors alone can cause stinging.
• Infant Safety: Avoid use on or near the faces of infants and young children, as menthol can cause breathing difficulties or laryngeal spasms.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight amber glass bottle to prevent the oil from becoming thick or losing its potency through evaporation.
