Product Description
Flaxseed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Linum usitatissimum plant. It is a therapeutic grade oil for the skin and hair. It stands out due to its high concentration of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (Omega-3), an essential fatty acid that the body cannot produce on its own. When applied topically, this lipid-rich oil works to reinforce the skin’s natural barrier, locking in moisture and shielding against environmental pollutants. Its potent anti-inflammatory properties make it a premier choice for calming chronic conditions such as eczema, rosacea, and general sensitivity. In hair care, flaxseed oil functions as a deep conditioner that improves elasticity and strength, effectively smoothing the cuticle to provide a high-gloss finish.
Possible Uses/Applications:
- Anti-Inflammatory Serums: Targeting conditions like eczema or rosacea.
- Night Repair Oils: Supporting cellular turnover and skin elasticity.
- Lightweight Body Lotions: Providing deep nutrition without a heavy, greasy film.
- Fortifying Hair Masks: Improving the strength and shine of brittle hair strands.
Formulation Guidelines
- Flaxseed oil is extremely heat-sensitive, so you should avoid heating it.
- In a lotion or cream, incorporate flaxseed oil into the oil phase only after the mixture has cooled sufficiently.
- Flaxseed oil has a short shelf-life, which makes it mandatory to include an antioxidant like Vitamin E (Tocopherol) or Rosemary Leaf Extract to stabilize the formula.
Safety Guidelines
- Topical Use Only: Intended for external application; do not ingest.
- Oxidation Check: Discard if the oil develops a strong, unpleasant odor, as oxidized oil can irritate the skin.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dark environment. Refrigeration is recommended for long-term stability.
Please Note:
All the products supplied are for cosmetic use (cosmetic formulations) – for external use only.
